Home North Louisiana Breastfeeding Coalition is working to improve the health of our area by supporting breastfeeding across north Louisiana from the largest cities of Shreveport, Bossier City, and Monroe to the smaller towns and villages of Vivian, Oak Grove, and Winnsboro and everywhere in between such as Minden and Ruston. Breast milk offers medical benefits not available from human milk substitutes and encourages a strong bond between mother and child. Unfortunately, North Louisiana’s breastfeeding initiation and continuation rates fall well below the national average. The future health of our state depends on increasing those rates. Our Mission Statement is to make breastfeeding the norm through education, advocacy, and collaboration among medical professionals, the public health system, breastfeeding families, and the community.
