Christy having lost her hearing at the age of one has been able to overcome many obstacles to attend the world-renowned Ringling College of Art & Design in Sarasota, Florida and become the first deaf student to receive a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Her love of vibrant colors and the ability to create harmony using thick oil paints has become a trademark of her paintings. She has seen a significant increase in the popularity of her work in recent years. Her artwork can be seen around the state in Festival Posters including her hometown’s Gretna Heritage Festival, the New Orleans Wine and Food Experience, and the Plaquemines Parish Fair and Orange Festival which was named the “Best Festival Poster” of 2008 by the Louisiana Association of Fair and Festivals.
Christy’s positive breastfeeding experience led her to create the unique piece, Natural, that embodies the beauty of the breastfeeding relationship.
The coalition has 9 prints of Natural still for sale. Visit her website at http://www.artbychristy.com/store/store_love_that.html. The print is 18×19 and priced at only $30. All proceeds will stay with NorthLBC and may be used for Breastfeeding Welcome Here program, or other plans to promote breastfeeding.
